Honors Tutorial
Small group of students (2-5) engage in collaborative work under faculty guidance. The focus is determined in advance by a faculty member and shaped through discussion with the enrolled students. Course may be repeated for credit. Prerequisites: instructor's consent. Honors eligibility required

The Campus Writing Program conducts a two-day faculty workshop to assist with the design and implementation of your writing intensive course. Once your course proposal has been approved by the Campus Writing Program, you will receive information on time, date and location of the workshop.

Briefly describe the qualifications of the known graduate instructors, or planned qualifications if graduate instructors are still to be selected, bearing in mind that graduate students teaching honors courses should be advanced students with a record of excellent teaching.
 

Honors Course Information

Tutorials are small groups of students discussing specific problems. In this tutorial participants will • acquire knowledge on the historical formation and geopolitical dynamics of Turkey, its borders and national/ethnic identities. • develop a complex and nuanced understanding of contemporary ‘Turkish’ issues which requires a look into the past, the Ottoman Empire. • observe media responses to the present socioeconomic and political actions of the current administration. • obtain a nuanced understanding of the meaning of secularism and Islamism as it plays out in Turkey.
