Minor in English Writing
The English Writing minor consists of 15 credit hours of coursework beyond ENGLSH 1000 (or its equivalent), and is designed to help students in all majors and colleges improve their writing and critical thinking skills. Students must take at least 3 credit hours of a composition course (ENGLSH 2010, ENGLSH 2030, ENGLSH 3010); at least 6 credit hours of a nonfiction creative writing course (ENGLSH 1520, ENGLSH 2520, ENGLSH 4520) or ENGLSH 4040; and at least 3 credit hours of any English Writing Intensive course beyond those WI courses required for graduation. The remaining 3 credit hours can be taken in any of the above 3 categories (composition, nonfiction creative writing or ENGLSH 4040, and English WI) and can include any creative writing course. A grade of C- or above must be earned in all minor course work and a minimum GPA of 2.0 achieved in the minor. A minimum of 9 credit hours must be completed in MU coursework.
