Minor in Psychological Sciences
Requirements
The Psychological Sciences minor requires at least 15 credit hours in PSYCH courses, distributed as shown below. Students must receive a grade of "S" or "C-" or better in all courses required for the minor. Grades of "U" or "D+" or below will not be accepted. A total of 9 hours of transfer credit will be accepted toward the minor. (Note: PSYCH 1000 Advanced Placement test credit is considered MU credit toward the minor and is not considered in the 9 hours of transfer credit.) Students can count applicable psychology minor coursework to meet MU General Education and A&S foundation requirements.
A minor must be completed and awarded at the same time as the MU undergraduate degree – minors cannot be claimed after graduation. Students cannot earn a major and a minor in Psychology.
A minor consists of at least 15 credits, including at least 6 credits numbered 2000 or above, 9 of the required credits must be taken in MU course work. This requirement can be reduced from 9 to 6 at the discretion of an individual department. Students must meet the minimum GPA requirements for a minor, which in no case can be lower than 2.0. In addition, a student cannot receive a grade lower than a C- in any course applied towards a minor in the College. For more information, please see Requirements for Optional Minor.
