Minor in Leadership and Service

The Minor in Leadership & Service equips students with essential leadership skills through the Missouri Method of experiential learning. This program is designed to complement any major, providing students with practical, high-impact experiences that enhance classroom learning. Core and advanced studies include leadership, public policy, ethics, and social issues, with a strong emphasis on service learning and community service internships. Special activities such as internships, hands-on learning, research, field operations, study abroad, mentoring, and shadowing are integral to the program. Graduates are well-prepared for careers in various fields, including public service, non-profits, and corporate leadership roles, with top prospects in employment due to their developed skills in creative thinking, leadership, service orientation, and more. This minor ensures students are ready to enter the job market with a competitive edge and a commitment to lifelong learning and community engagement.

Requirements

To complete this minor, students must fulfill a total of 16 credit hours across five distinct components, each designed to cultivate leadership skills through communication, service, and reflection; and a one credit hour culminating experience.
