MLIS in Library and Information Science with Emphasis in Digital Humanities
The Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) program with Digital Humanities emphasis area prepares librarians and information professionals with the capacity to advance interdisciplinary scholarship, facilitate new understandings of the humanities, and bring a humanistic perspective to emerging digital technologies. Coursework is meant to scaffold students from no coding experience to completing their own digital humanities project prior to graduation, with potential opportunities to work with other humanities scholars to bring their ideas to life. The successful graduate of this American Library Association-accredited program will likely work in an academic library, an archives, or a digital humanities center.
Degree Requirements
The MLIS program consists of 39 credit hours, including 18 credits of required courses and a one-hour ePortfolio class (7 classes). The Digital Humanities emphasis area will require an additional 18 credit hours (6 classes). The remaining program credit hours may be completed as elective courses.
Altogether, students must take 12 hours of courses taught by a full-time faculty member. All classes are online, and there are both synchronous and asynchronous classes.
