Materials Science and Engineering

Materials Science & Engineering at the University of Missouri is an interdisciplinary effort focused on education and research studying the relationship between the structure, properties, processing, and performance of materials including metals, polymers, ceramics, and composites. The Program strives to address grand challenges in the field supporting faculty and students in their endeavors.

The faculty of the MU Materials Science & Engineering Program prepares its students for career in a broad range of fields and to assume leadership roles in their communities through both a well-rounded and tailored education. The technical curriculum is intended to challenge students in materials science and engineering theory and practice while giving them ample opportunity to take elective courses that relate to their interests. Students are taught to improve their skills in problem solving and critical thinking.
