AERO 1100: Heritage and Values of the United States Air Force

This survey course provides an introduction to the Air and Space Forces, exposing students to a career in the Department of the Air Force (DAF). The course allows students to examine general aspects of the DAF, to include basic characteristics, missions, organizations, heritage, and values. In addition, students will be exposed to leadership fundamentals, service benefits, and other opportunities for officers within the Air Force or Space Force. Leadership laboratory must be taken in conjunction with this course.

AERO 1200: Heritage and Values of the United States Air Force

This survey course continues to build on the fundamental understanding of the Air and Space Forces. Students will be exposed to a career in the Department of the Air Force (DAF). AERO 2100: Team and Leadership Fundamentals

This survey course is designed to provide a fundamental understanding of leadership and team building. Students will learn about the many layers of leadership which will become the foundation for facing the challenges of an Air or Space Force officer. Topics include self-awareness, listening skills, team building, and the Full-Range Leadership model. At the conclusion of the course, students will be able to demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills, as well as apply leadership perspectives when completing team-building activities. Leadership laboratory must be taken in conjunction with this course.

AERO 2200: Team and Leadership Fundamentals

At the conclusion of the course, students will be able to demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills, as well as apply leadership perspectives when completing team-building activities. AERO 3100: Leading People and Effective Communication I

In this course, students will gain a more in-depth understanding of how to effectively lead people. Students will have the opportunity to practice the skills covered in class through various leadership roles within the Air Force ROTC cadet wing. In addition, students will expand their writing and briefing skills. Topics include motivation, creative thinking, effective feedback, and ethical decision making. At the conclusion of the course, students will have a better understanding of their own leadership abilities and how to keep improving them. Leadership laboratory must be taken in conjunction with this course.

AERO 3200W: Leading People and Effective Communication II - Writing Intensive

In this writing intensive course, students will continue to gain a more in-depth understanding of how to effectively lead people. Students will have the opportunity to practice the skills covered in class through various leadership roles within the Air Force ROTC cadet wing. In addition, students will hone their writing and briefing skills. Topics include organizational climate, mentoring, conflict management, and organizational leadership theory. At the conclusion of the course, students will have a better understanding of Air and Space Force writing styles, as well as a better understanding of their own leadership abilities and how to keep improving them. Leadership laboratory must be taken in conjunction with this course.

AERO 4100: National Security, Leadership Responsibilities, and Active Duty Preparation 1

In this course, students will learn about the different elements of national security policy and process. Students will also learn basic Department of the Air Force (DAF) operations along with selected roles of the military in society and how current domestic and international issues affect the military profession. Topics include civilian control of the military, joint operations, defense support of civil authorities, and multi-domain operations. At the conclusion of this course, students will have a better understanding of how national security policy and processes affect DAF operations and the military profession at large.

AERO 4200W: National Security, Leadership Responsibilities, and Active Duty Preparation II - Writing Intensive

In this intensive writing course, students will learn about military command authority and the uniform code of military justice. In addition, students will continue to develop their writing and briefing skills in preparation for active-duty service. Topics include leadership authority and responsibility, military justice, the military code of conduct, and miscellaneous active-duty topics. At the conclusion of this course, students will understand the responsibility, authority, and functions of a Department of the Air Force, have a better understanding of the military justice system, and will be equipped with the necessary skills to enter the Department of the Air Force as a commissioned officer. Leadership laboratory must be taken in conjunction with this course.

AERO 4887: Internship in Aerospace Studies ROTC Lab

Designed for students who have taken all available Aerospace Studies ROTC lecture courses to remain active in the program. Supervised internship lab with approval of Director of Undergraduate Studies and academic adviser. Course appears on transcript for zero credit and does not count toward full-time enrollment. No tuition or fees are charged. Graded on S/U basis only.

Prerequisites: AERO 1100, AERO 1200, AERO 3100, AERO 3200W, AERO 4100 and AERO 4200W. Requires instructor's consent
