Graduate Minor in College Teaching
Approximately 75 percent of faculty positions in the United States are at institutions where the importance of teaching and professional service is equal to or greater than the emphasis on research. The Minor in College Teaching, available to all MU graduate degree-seeking students, demonstrates your preparation as an effective teacher to potential employers.
Requirements
The Minor in College Teaching (MICT) requires 9 credit hours, including a 3-credit core course, 3–6 elective credit hours, and a teaching experience with a teaching portfolio. The teaching experience may be completed through an approved teaching practicum, with practicum credit hours counting toward the minor’s credit requirements.
Students should consult the Graduate School website for guidance on what qualifies as an approved teaching experience and for detailed teaching portfolio requirements.
