Certificate in Literary Publishing

The Certificate in Literary Publishing creates opportunities for students with an interest in reading and writing to take a deeper dive into the publishing industry in ways that are relevant to an editorial career. Through guided internships, through courses focused on editing literary texts, and through courses that explore arts entrepreneurship more broadly, these students will get an overview of the experiences, skills, and knowledge required of the field. Students who take the Certificate in Literary Publishing will experience (1) a variety of publishing contexts (book, magazine, or online; academic, independent, or corporate; poetry, fiction, or essays), and (2) hands-on editorial roles (copyediting, content editing, genre editing, acquisitions editing, proofreading, contributing/guest editing, etc). By delving into the particulars of literary publishing in a broad range of contexts, this Certificate is intended to benefit anyone going into editorial work or publishing who wishes to acquire strong fundamentals in this discipline.
